Frames

Try on as many frames as you like. We'll help you find a shape and size that suits your face, sits comfortably, and works with your prescription: strong prescriptions and progressive lenses look and work best in certain frame shapes. We carry designer and value frames for men, women and children. Lenses and coatings

Sunglasses

We carry prescription and non-prescription sunglasses, designer brands included. Choose lenses that block 100% of UVA and UVB light: how dark a lens is says nothing about its UV protection. Polarized lenses cut the glare that bounces off water, roads and car hoods, which makes driving easier. Over the years, sunlight contributes to cataracts and to growths on the eye such as pterygium, so sunglasses are worth wearing every day in the Central Valley sun.

Glasses for children

Children often don't know they aren't seeing well. Contact lenses

Contact lenses need their own prescription, separate from your glasses prescription, because they sit right on the eye. Types of lenses

• Daily disposables: a fresh pair every day, with no cleaning. A healthy choice for many people, and handy for part-time wear.
• Two-week and monthly lenses: cleaned and stored each night, and replaced on schedule.
• Toric lenses correct astigmatism.
• Multifocal lenses are for people over 40 who need help seeing up close as well as far away.
• Rigid gas-permeable lenses are smaller, firmer lenses that give very crisp vision for some prescriptions.
• Scleral lenses are large, rigid lenses that vault over the cornea. They're used for keratoconus, for corneas left irregular by surgery or injury, and for severe dry eye. More about specialty lenses.

Wearing them safely

• Don't sleep in your lenses unless your eye doctor has prescribed lenses approved for it: sleeping in contacts greatly raises the risk of a serious eye infection.
• Keep lenses away from water, including tap water, showers, pools and hot tubs.
• Use fresh solution every time. Never top up old solution, or use water or saliva.
• Replace your lenses and your lens case on schedule.
• If your eye turns red or painful, becomes sensitive to light, or your vision blurs, take your lenses out and call us.

Can I wear contacts if I have astigmatism?

Can I use my glasses prescription to buy contacts?

No. A contact lens prescription includes details that a glasses prescription doesn't, such as the lens's curve, diameter and brand, which come from a contact lens fitting.

Is it bad to wear someone else's glasses?

It won't damage your eyes, but the wrong prescription can cause blurry vision, headaches, eye strain and dizziness.
